NA: University Alliances Winter Workshops (January 5-8, 2015)

Winter Workshops 2015

SAP University Alliances Program (UAP) member schools across North America and Latin America are invited to  participate in four days of train-the-trainer oriented coursework that will introduce participants to SAP functionality as well as best practices for successful classroom use. Workshop content is developed and delivered by professors active in the program. The face-to-face workshop sessions are detailed below, with links that UAP member professors can use to access the workshop materials and participate in post-workshop online discussions with their instructors and fellow attendees.

Introduction to ERP

Analytics Applications

Participants are introduced to SAP BusinessObjects and SAP Crystal analytic applications with a focus on hands-on exercises covering end user analytics. Participants are also introduced to SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse. The focus is hands-on exercises covering developer-focused analytics using SAP NetWeaver BW. Workshop will also feature new curriculum using SAP Lumira Cloud. Additionally, there will be an overview of SAP HANA (SAP’s in-memory database) and its use cases.

In the course of this game, students have to run a business with a real-life ERP system (SAP). Groups of students each operate a firm in a make-to-stock manufacturing supply chain and must interact with suppliers and customers by sending and receiving orders, delivering their products and completing the whole cash-to-cash cycle. Using standard and custom reports of SAP ERP, students have to analyze these transactions and make business decisions to ensure the profitability of their operations. Participants will obtain hands-on experience with SAP through a case designed specifically for the introductory AIS course. The case is composed of four separate but interrelated sets of exercise tutorials: 1) procurement; 2) production; 3) sales and distribution; and 4) financial and cost accounting. Instructors with minimal SAP knowledge can successfully use the case to demonstrate to students basic transaction processing and internal control concepts in an ERP system such as SAP. Workshop participants will obtain an overview of SAP and the case, followed by the completion of all
exercises in the four interrelated tutorials. Internal control concepts applied throughout the exercises will also be discussed and demonstrated in the workshop, including questions provided along with the case that instructors can choose amongst to have students answer regarding internal control in each tutorial.

Student Entrepreneurship Program

SAP Student Entrepreneurship program will channel SAP’s real-world expertise on entrepreneurship to multi-disciplinary students interested in developing innovative mindsets, guiding ideas from inspiration to commercial solutions, and building successful businesses.  In this hand-over session, we’ll provide faculty with a portfolio of assets and services they can use to teach entrepreneurship – either by adding real-world value from SAP to existing programs, or by starting entirely new ones.  Topics will include Design Thinking, Business Modeling, Enterprise Development, Capital Acquisition, Go-to-Market Planning and more.  Ultimately we’ll put students into SAP platform environments for prototyping and, we hope, full product development.  SAP knows entrepreneurship!NoneClick here

This workshop exposes HR faculty to the case study that is currently being extended and also covers material from the upcoming curriculum. There is an additional hosting fee for Success Factors which will be shared during the workshop.

This workshop exposes faculty to the integrated processes, analytics, and mobile capabilities of SAP Business
One
, including the available introduction curriculum. Business One has an additional hosting fee for existing UA full members in North America of 1,700 EUR per year plus 10€ per concurrent user per year.

This 4 day workshop is for faculty who are teaching mobile and web application development. SAP HANA Cloud Platform is a Platform as a Service solution which accelerates innovation in the big data, analytics, and
app markets. The workshop will introduce you to SAP HANA Cloud Platform which supports standards-based open development with the ability to write JAVA or native HANA applications using HTML5 on SAP’s mobile platform.
Basic skills in Java and HTML5 programming as well as basic skills in
using the Eclipse development environment.
