I need expert help on the following scenario in our Stores (MM module).- Industry Manufacturing (Discrete)
Production order release is done by planning and for the reservations Stores had issue Materials (ROH) for Production shops.
Unfortunately the Material No.(ROH) is being changed to new Material No. by Stores team in the Material master due to various practical reasons, which should not be case at all. But it is being done due to emergency and for valid reasons; THOUGH THE ITEM (MATERIAL) REMAINS SAME.
(Say for example Material is “5mm Plate”, Old Material Number is 05021245401 and Assigned new Material No. is 08022544701 by Stores)
The Stores further informs about the change to Planning
Planning person goes to Production order and changes the old Material No (ROH) quantity & adds the new Material no., with balance quantity of Old Material.
This is a rigorous exercise for Planning person as there are many entries to made individually.
So the question is when Stores changes the Material no. to new Material No(ROH),
Is there any way to link Old Material to new Material such that the Production can withdraw the Reservation quantity having Old Material No, Please advice in Standard MM module practice to keep track of old material no. with new material no. (automatically) or through Enhancement.
Kindly give us a ELEGANT Solution without handling the same from Production order end(Avoiding entries through CO02, BDC) and Long term stability of the system
